FULL-ARCH IMPLANT DENTISTRY

A new smile starts with a thoughtful plan.

For patients living with failing teeth, extensive tooth loss, or unstable dentures, full-mouth implant treatment can offer a fixed restorative option. The right solution depends on bone support, medical history, bite, smile line, hygiene access, and long-term maintenance—not simply the number of implants.

01

Who may benefit?

Patients who are missing most or all teeth, have recurrent problems with existing restorations, or struggle with removable dentures may wish to explore fixed implant-supported teeth. Some patients may be better served by preserving strategic natural teeth or choosing a removable implant-supported prosthesis. A clinical examination and imaging are essential.

02

Planning around the final smile

Dr. Shah considers facial proportions, lip support, phonetics, occlusion, smile aesthetics, and the planned prosthesis before determining implant positions. CBCT imaging can help assess available bone and important anatomical structures; digital planning helps communicate the proposed approach.

03

Fixed teeth, materials and treatment stages

When appropriate, treatment can involve extraction of non-restorable teeth, placement of multiple implants, a provisional fixed restoration, healing and follow-up, and fabrication of the definitive prosthesis. Zirconia is one possible final restorative material. Immediate fixed provisional teeth are not appropriate or achievable for every patient.

04

Complex anatomy and alternatives

Severe bone loss, sinus anatomy, periodontal disease, smoking, uncontrolled systemic conditions, or prior implant problems may affect candidacy. Depending on the findings, alternatives can include preserving teeth, conventional dentures, removable implant overdentures, staged implant treatment, grafting, or referral for advanced surgical options.

05

Risks and maintenance

Implant treatment involves risks such as infection, implant failure, nerve or sinus complications, prosthetic fracture, and the need for future repairs. Daily cleaning, professional maintenance, and management of clenching or grinding remain important after treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Will I have teeth on surgery day?

Some patients qualify for an immediate provisional restoration. It depends on primary implant stability, anatomy, and the treatment plan; it cannot be guaranteed.

How long does full-mouth implant treatment take?

The timeline varies with healing, grafting needs, medical factors, and prosthetic design. Dr. Shah will discuss anticipated phases after an evaluation.

Are full-mouth implants the only option?

No. Retaining treatable teeth, conventional dentures, and removable implant-supported options may be reasonable alternatives.
